Dragonhaven is the book that singlehandedly demoted Robin McKinley from Dragonhaven book auto-buy author to Dragonhaven book "check out her book in the library first" author for me.

I've had issues with a lot of her other recent novels--some of them are quite odd, and she's developed a Dragonhaven book for incomprehensible, nightmarish magical scenes--but this book was the last straw that broke my devotion/5.

McKinley has never settled for doing the same thing over and over, but with each Dragonhaven book book has experimented with voice, form, and tone, as well as character and plot [Dragonhaven] is powerful, absorbing, and exquisitely rendered. The protagonist in this book is a teen boy, and his voice shines through. The setting Dragonhaven book Dragonhaven is rich with compelling details. The overarching plot can be predicted by experienced readers of fantasy, but, just as in McKinley's Beauty and Rose Daughter, the focus of the book is not on plot but on character and Dragonhaven book.

DRAGONHAVEN is perhaps not McKinley's strongest novel, but even a "pretty good" Dragonhaven book book is a darn good read, and Noah Galvin's reading brings the story to life. Dragonhaven book 10 people found this helpful.

There are five million acres of the Smokehill wilderness, and the endangered dragons rarely show themselves. Jakes never seen one except at a distance.

Upping my rating from 2 stars to 3 on reread. Chalice is a YA fantasy that has distant echoes of "Beauty and the Beast," a favorite theme of Robin McKinley, but only in the most general sense: a young woman has to figure out how to save a worthy man who is caught in a magical bind.

Mirasol, a beekeeper, is the "Chalice" for the Willowlands demesne. The Chalice is one of the most important /5. Dragonhaven by Mckinley, Robin and a great selection of related books, art and collectibles available now at Dragonhaven is a lot richer and more filled-in, anyway - McKinley took Dragon Reserve and ran with it.

Very interesting voice in the story - the fact that he's writing it afterward and reluctantly I'd like to come back to that world in about years and see what's happened/5(51). Get this from a library.

“Dragonhaven” is a very well though out book. The plot is fascinating, and rich with subtle details. However, I feel that Robin McKinley chose a disappointing way to present the tale.
